General plots / Broken-axis bar chart

When a few categories dwarf the rest, small bars almost vanish in an ordinary bar chart. A broken axis omits an empty stretch of the value axis and draws the lower and upper parts on their own linear scales.
Double slashes on the axis and white notches on the bars mark the break. For bars that cross it, height is no longer proportional to value, so rely on the printed values.
The automatic break is placed where the ratio between neighbouring sorted values is largest (at least 3); you can also switch it off and give the start and end yourself.
For strictly proportional comparison, use a bar chart with a log axis instead. Repeated categories are averaged and can show SD or SE error bars.
Automatic break: where the ratio of neighbouring values (sorted in decreasing order) is largest and at least 3, rounded to readable limits.
Up to 200 categories.
