How to read it

Dot heatmap

Each dot is a row × column combination: larger dots mean a larger size measure (by default −log10 adjusted P, so larger is more significant); colour shows a second measure (for example log2 fold change, red high and blue low).

Reading two quantities in one chart suits single-cell marker dot plots and comparisons of enrichment or differential results across several groups.

Combinations without data get no dot; P = 0 is shown at the −log10 upper limit and the page reports how many there are.

“Cluster by colour values” places rows and columns with similar colour patterns together; for a fixed order, sort your table and choose “as first seen in the table”.

Method

Dot radius scales with the square root of the size value (area proportional to the value); clustering uses Euclidean distance with average linkage.

Data size

Up to 300 rows × 150 columns.
