Heatmaps / Heatmap with bar panel

In the heatmap each row is an item (for example a gene) and each column a sample, coloured by value; the bar panel on the right is aligned row by row and shows a summary of that row.
The bars can be the row mean, the row standard deviation or any numeric column of the table (for example log2FC from a differential analysis); positive and negative values take the two ends of the diverging palette.
By default the heatmap uses row z-scores (comparing each row across samples) limited to ±2; raw values are also available.
Rows can be clustered (Euclidean distance, average linkage), sorted by bar value or kept in table order; sorting by bar value shows effect size and consistency across samples together.
z-scores use the sample standard deviation (n − 1); clustering uses Euclidean distance with average linkage (UPGMA); with raw diverging colours the palette ends at the 95th percentile of |value| and larger values take the end colour.
Up to 500 rows are drawn.
