How to read it

Scatter with marginal box plots

The centre is a scatter plot; the small box plots above and to the right show how the x and y values are distributed in each group (line = median, box = IQR, whiskers to 1.5 × IQR).

You see the relationship between two measures and whether each measure alone differs between groups; the “group P” values in the summary test these margins (Mann–Whitney or Welch t for two groups, Kruskal–Wallis or ANOVA for more).

Tick “Least-squares line per group” to compare trends; the table lists each group’s Pearson r, slope and R².

Use log10 axes for values spanning orders of magnitude; up to 12 groups.

Method

Quartiles use R type 7; tests and correlations match scipy.stats (mannwhitneyu, ttest_ind(equal_var=False), kruskal, f_oneway, pearsonr).

Data size

Up to 20,000 points and 12 groups.
